Harvesting from the natural field under organic management
The plants harvested from the natural field will be allowed to be present in the national and international markets under the title of organic if they have followed the principles and laws related to it during the harvesting and processing of the organic product, including the issues raised in this regard. The management of the harvest of the plant in question is based on special instructions so that the environment and ecosystem are not harmed through harvesting. Users and collectors have passed the necessary training in this regard. The exploited area has not been treated with chemical inputs in the last three years.
Organic gardens
Organic management of orchards for the production of organic products requires special planning and management. Because the use of synthetic chemicals as soil enhancers and pesticides is prohibited in organic gardens. Therefore, proper management and the use of special techniques are necessary both to enhance soil fertility and to control pests. One of the most important issues regarding the conversion of conventional gardens to organic gardens is the transition period. The transition period is the period of time that must pass after the start of organic management in the garden, based on national or international standards, so that the product harvested as organic is allowed to enter the national and international markets. Therefore, the transition period is different based on the type of standard, but usually the transition period in gardens is 3 years before the first harvest as organic. Under special conditions, it is possible to shorten the transition period
Organic farms
The organic management of farms is one of the issues that must be done scientifically and requires careful planning and forecasting of various issues in the periodic program management. A set of activities and management should be done and if these things are insufficient, you can use the allowed inputs in organic agriculture (soil enhancer and pest control).
Use of suitable species and cultivars – Use of suitable methods for rotation – Planting legumes, green manures or deep-rooted plants according to a suitable multi-plant rotation program – Mechanical cultivation – Protection of natural enemies of pests – Creation of diverse ecosystems with methods – use of natural enemies including release of predators and parasites – covering with mulch and grass – livestock grazing – mechanical control such as trapping, use of obstacles, light and sound – steam sterilization in cases where soil rotation and renewal It is possible – to destroy weeds with a flamethrower
The transition period in agriculture is defined as 2 years before planting, and under special conditions, it is possible to shorten the transition period.
Permitted inputs in organic farming
The use of permitted inputs in organic agriculture is unimpeded after performing organic management techniques to achieve production goals. It is necessary for producers (farmers, processing units, etc.) to identify these inputs so that they can use them when needed. Permitted in organic agriculture are divided into the following three groups:
1. Institutions that strengthen soil fertility
2. Institutions that control pests (insects, diseases, etc.).
3. Devices that can be used in processing units and warehouses for sanitary purposes (disinfection, etc.).
Group Certificate for internal control system (ICS)
In 2001, there were about 350 groups of small producers in the field of organic agriculture who exported their organic products to northern countries (Europe and America). Some statistics showed that 60-70% of the products of small producer groups were exported to the European Union and North America. Small farmers in organic product production groups have had a great impact on the growth of organic agriculture and due to the higher price of these products, they have provided progress and improvement of the livelihood of their families. It is impossible for most of these producers to pay the annual inspection fees due to the size of the farms, especially when there is no local inspection organization or the market requirements of the importing country require that European and North American inspectors be used. Since the mid-1980s, this system, that is, small farmers have been organized and internal organizational structures have been formed to obtain group certification licenses.
Definition of internal control systemICS
The internal control system is the trusted documented quality system that external certifying organizations allow a specified person or unit to perform an annual inspection of group members to the management of the certified operator. (As a result, the main task of certifying organizations is to evaluate the work report of the internal control system).
Organic animal husbandry
Organic animal husbandry is an integrated part of an organic agricultural unit, based on which, maintaining and improving soil fertility, managing soil vegetation through livestock grazing, increasing biodiversity and facilitating complementary interactions in the field and increasing the diversity of agricultural and livestock systems should be take place Access to open space for animals, feeding animals with organic feed and maintaining the comfort, health and well-being of animals are the most important principles that must be observed in organic animal husbandry. Based on the type of livestock and the ability to use livestock, a different transition period for livestock is defined based on the type of standard.
Processing of organic products
In the processing of organic products, in addition to the method of processing and the materials used as additives, it is important to store and separately process organic products when parallel production also takes place. The amount of organic raw materials input to processing units in the final product will result in different labeling based on organic standards. Compliance with these labeling principles is essential in processed organic products.
Permitted inputs in organic farming
Organic aquaculture production based on private, national and international standards can be implemented in different aquaculture production systems, both in closed systems (fish breeding ponds) and in open systems (river or coastal). In organic aquaculture, protection of biodiversity around the farm, respecting the biological balance between genotype, phenotype and environment, as well as production without the use of common chemicals that are used in conventional aquaculture. At all stages of the production chain until consumption, the quality of the product must be taken care of. One of the most important concerns of organic aquaculture production is the provision of organic feed.
